What
I started doing freelance work in college under the mentorship of my communications and advertising professor. I preformed jobs for local clients and also did some marketing for the college student-led newspaper. Since my start in 2017, I have served over a hundred clients through logo creation, brand development, social media campaigns, video promos, photography, total rebranding, graphic animations, truck wraps, and many other forms of marketing collateral. I have served a variety of clients anywhere from corporate companies and local businesses, to churches and excited soon-to-be newlyweds.

How
Over the years I have gained a greater understanding of the client and designer relationship. There are many skills I have gained an appreciation for in this working relationship but the two worth emphasizing is organization and communication communication communication!
Organization.
My client projects are all organized and labeled properly, ready for that call asking for a brochure design to be updated and the like. I use excel to plan social media campaigns outlining goals, expectations, market research, the target audience, marketing strategies, and a SWOT analysis.
Communication.
The simple form of communication is to talk to one another, but in the design world--it's a bit more complicated! For one, my clients normally haven't graduated from college with a design or advertising degree. They don't understand design terms or advertising strategies. Sometimes they just want something that "pops!" or a "snazzy poster" that has a bajillion words on it. As their design and advertising advocate I must meet the client's standard while producing a design that accomplishes their marketing goals. This means learning to say "Yes, but according to your goals and marketing research...". That's what makes me valuable to my clients. I'm not satisfied with just making a design, I create strategy-driven designs. Does every client value this? Unfortunately not, but in the end--this is most important--the client always wins.
I'm not the end all be all, if you want a designer with ego, that's not me. I don't have anything to prove, but my clients do. And that's why I'm passionate about producing quality work that aesthetically and effectively represents their brand.
